These discs work well. .
I have found that if I use the cleaning disc frequently, the spout does not get a dirty buildup that needs to be scraped out. I went for several years without using the disc frequently and found that the lattes would no long froth. This was because the spout was clogged. Once I cleaned it out, the machine worked like new and the cleaning disc keeps it clean.

Expensive & somewhat inconvenient
This works relatively well -- until the bar code starts to wear off. One may only use it about 6 times before the print starts to fade or wear off and then it won't work at all! I had to open/close the disc placement housing several times before it would work using the descaling solution. When I tried to flush the system, as per instructions, it would not work, even after opening/closing turning on/off a dozen times or more. Now I have to buy a new one and wait approx 2 weeks before I can use my Tassimo. Not a good thing!! Of course, one must recommend the product, because there is no alternative. Skipping the descaling process will simply damage the machine beyond use. Thus, I recommended it with resentment. One should be able to buy a new label to affix on the disc, for about $.50.

What if you want to just get hot water out of the system. How do you do that? I see that someone asked about using the yellow cleaning disc. You said no, but you did not say how you could get just plain water out of the system. I have a mother who is legally blind with macular degeneration, and finds it hard to use the microwave oven. She would like to be able to use the machine for coffee, tea, cocoa, etc. But often wants hot water for a particular herb tea she cannot get from tassimo. Would she be able to use the machine this way?

Take a used T DISC cut the bar code out put tape on the back of the cut bar code put it over the yellow disc bar code and now you can get hot waterAge: 45-54

Tassimo does not recommend the brewer be used to for dispensing hot water. The Tassimo Brewer System was not designed as a hot water dispenser. it is a coffee, tea, cappuccino, latte, macchiato, and hot chocolate brewer using specially designed T-Disc for these beverages.1 year, 4 months ago

I descale my brewer when the Tassimo indicates that I need to, but I would like to run a cycle of just hot water through the machine without using the descaling solution. Would it be ok to use the disc & press the button a few times to run some water through it? I thought it would help since I do use the milk discs frequently. Thanks for your help.

The cleaning T-Disc can be used without the use of descaler. However, to clean the milk residue from the piercing unit, it can be removed from the brewer and cleaned by removing the drink outlet from the piercing unit.1 year, 6 months ago
Is there supposed to a bar code sticker on the yellow cleaning disc?The directions mention a bar code. I do not see one.

My disc worked as stated in the manual the first time but since then cylces only once and the red cleaning light on the dial stays on constantly.
